"The Fatt Lapp Blues Band, Grand Rapids original style blues group. The Fatt Lapp Blues Band is dedicated to the preservation of original Blues, with sound and lyrics to stir heart and soul, helping folks see life as it is. Bass Guitarist, Asamu Johnson, a long time musician, formed the Fatt Lapp Blues Band in 1996, in Grand Rapids, MI. Fatt Lapp has formed a bond between Chicago Style Blues, to create a unique sound appealing to listeners and dancer of any age. Fatt Lapp has dedicated itself to original blues music and creations of new and innovated blending of blues to today’s culture. Performances are highlighted by uncommonly clean guitar tones at any tempo from moody to dynamic. All members are multi-talented instrumentalists. Fatt Lapp Blues Band has made appearances in 2008 at Billy’s, River City Slims, Muskegon Summer Celebration, Kentwood Bistro, Dreamer’s. Years of performing at Grand Rapids Festival, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Afro American Festival, Kentwood Festival, Wyoming Cultural Festival, Cow Pie Blues Festival in Grand Rapids, New Holland Brewery in Holland, Kalamazoo Blues Festival, Francisco’s in Kalamazoo, Jambalaya’s in Lansing, Victories Casino in Petoskey, Walt’s in Portland, Rouge River Blues Festival in Rockford, Wally’s in Saugatuck, Wayland Hotel Bar & Grill in Wayland and many more. Fatt Lapp has played most of the festivals held throughout the state of Michigan, and has gotten rave reviews from all of the local Blues Society publications."
